Paluma Hideaway |
Whitsundays Woodwark, near Airlie Beach Book safely via Vrbo |
Pro's and con's of this holiday home:
Pro
1 The views from the large veranda, with the bay nearby
2 The location near Airlie Beach while still staying out of town, which is a good starting point for Whitsunday Island cruises and activities.
3 The queen size bed is good
4 There are some nice touches like the sink in the bathroom.
5 Some wildlife could be seen like the green woodfrog.
6 Very good phone reception e.g. also Vodafone 4G+
Contra
1 There is no airco. This is a choice to be eco friendly, and yes, there are people who will set an airco to 18 degrees 24 hours. Being a bit in the hills, there is often some breeze, but we would have felt more comfortable to be able to cool the place a bit better like we could in almost all equally or also lower priced places we stayed.
2 The road below has quite some traffic, although not much at night, and this can well be heard. The house is also right below that of the neighbor (although he was away most of the time and was quiet enough when he returned).
3 Entry is a steep driveway and our car slipped a bit on the gravel in the lower part. Higher up it's a concrete road fortunately.
4 The wooden floor in the house has old paint stains all over which downgrades the first impression. It gives a feeling of budget accommodation which clearly this is not.
5 There is an enormous BBQ on the veranda. I guess it will appeal to the Australian way of life, but it has only one (pit) to cook, plus a hotplate. We prefer a multi (pit) stove inside the house.
6 There is a curtain next to the bed but all other windows except one small kitchen window has none, so it gets light very early
7 Outside chairs are rather uncomfortable wooden chairs. Some relax chairs would probably have been less expensive and much more comfortable.
